Dr. Angelique Megevand is a distinguished Consultant Physician specialising in Respiratory and Sleep Disorders and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Her clinical interests include acute respiratory disorders, non-invasive ventilation, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolism, obstructive airways disease (COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis), and lung cancer. Dr. Megevand is proficient in performing bronchoscopy, transbronchial biopsy, basic thoracic ultrasonography, and intercostal catheter insertion.
Education and Training
Angelique earned her undergraduate degree in science, with majors in pure mathematics and biochemistry, and her medical degree from the University of Sydney, graduating with honors in both degrees. She also completed three years of postgraduate research. Her medical training includes Basic Physician Training and three years of Intensive Care Medicine training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, followed by Advanced Physician Training in Respiratory Medicine.
Research and Teaching
Angelique has an extensive research portfolio, having published and presented internationally on various topics, including airway protection in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), and the role of eosinophils in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She is dedicated to medical education, particularly in teaching medical students and training junior doctors.
