Qualifications and Training:
A/Prof Andrew Roy is an experienced interventional cardiologist who graduated with honors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Dublin in 2002 and completed his MRCPI in 2005. He received clinical cardiology training at the Mater Misericordiae and St Vincents University Hospitals in Dublin.
Postgraduate Research:
Andrew earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Cardiorenal biomarkers from University College Dublin, focusing on research in Sudden Cardiac Death Family Screening and Pulmonary Hypertension.
Advanced Interventional Cardiology Training:
Andrew trained in interventional cardiology at the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud (Massy, France), specializing in complex coronary interventions, transcatheter valve replacements, and peripheral artery disease therapies. He also completed Fellowship training in Valvular Heart Disease Interventions and Cardiac CT at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, UK.
Professional Recognition:
Andrew holds Fellowships from the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI), and Australia (FRACP).
Current Roles and Commitments:
Andrew is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame Australia and serves on the Royal College of Physicians Australia OTP Education Subcommittee. He is also an Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal Case Reports and contributes to the European Society of Cardiology Acute Cardiac Care Examination MCQ Review Group.
